So I’m trying to buy a used jet ski for this summer. I’ve only rode the sit down kinds about 3 times, and never rode the stand up ones, but I’m convinced I want a stand up one for ease of tossing it in the back of a carpeted pickup (so I don’t need a trailer), better gas mileage, and I hear that they are just more fun once you get the hang of them.
Anyways, I’m only planning to spend around $1000 at the most. I’ve been seeing alot of Kawasaki 550sx’s around 1990’s in that price range.
Anyways, I’m pretty familiar with the mechanics of cars and motorcycles, but very unfamiliar with the overall workings of a jet ski. So I’m wondering what are the most important things to look for, and the most important things to expect? I’m guessing its not like a car or bike you can test ride, since I’m guessing most of the ones in my price range are ones sitting in peoples garages. So any advice overall would really help. Thanks.
I just recently ordered some ski skins for my Polaris Indy 500. They haven’t arrived yet so i don’t know what they are made of, a hard plastic or metal, not sure. I don’t do the insane jumps, but i enjoy jumping over my driveway (approximately 10 feet of air). Will the ski skins be able to handle this without breaking or cracking? Also how easy (or hard) are they to put on?
I bought new ski boots last year and was clearly not given the advice I should have. I have size 10 1/2 to 11 feet and I was sold size 29.5 boots. They fit very well around my calves, however I seem to have to much space to move my feet around inside the boot. Would buying an insert help? I am a fairly aggressive skier, have Rossi Salto entry level boots (intend to buy new ones in a year or two, but need a fix to get me through until then). The buckles around the foot are very easy to lock (hardly any pressure needed) and I basically need to get a tighter fit around that area. I am finding it hard to transfer control to my ski’s when I get more aggressive.
I’m looking to book a ski trip out West either the week before or of Christmas. I’ve skied about 10 different mountains, from Colorado to Wyoming and British Columbia. I would like to do it as cheaply as possible (which is almost impossible when you go West) But the accomodations/mountain have to be great.
Thanks!
