Affordable ski resorts in western Europe?

I will be spending Christmas in Alsace, France and would like to go skiing / snowboarding for a couple of days after that. The resorts in France are just too expensive. Any suggestion of a more affordable place for winter sports? In Germany / Austria / Slovenia perhaps?

    switzerland is known for its skiing.
    that’s their most popular sport and there are resorts everywhere
    so im sure you will be able to find an affordable one
    (and its super close to france!)

    I had a great time in the Innsbruck area in Austria. Lots of affordable places to stay and a wide range of nearby ski areas.

    I seriously doubt there are any affordable resorts in Switzerland. Prove it with a link :)

    Great prices and reasonable crowds.
