Has anyone been to these ski resorts in Utah?

Horse Jumper asked:

Park City Mt. Resort
Powder Mt. Resort
Snowbasin
or
Solitude Mt?

Can I have feedback, please? I am trying to decide which to go to.
Or if you have any other Utah suggestions. Preferably with at least 50% Intermediate slopes.

I have skied them all in Utah except for Powder Mtn.. Personally, for skiing only (they do not permit snowboarding) I like Alta the best. Also Solitude and Brighton are only a mile and a half apart and both are excellent and rarely have large lift lines. Snowbasin (near Ogden) is another good choice; as it now has 2 gondolas and several high speed Quad lifts. Park City is the largest, but tends to be very crowded and lift tickets this season will be $75! Recommend you stay in downtown Salt Lake City and it is a very easy 40-45 minute drive to 7 nearby Utah ski resorts. Check this site: (www.Skiutah.com) and order their Free (100 page) Ski Utah travel planner for all the complete details on skiing in Utah.

I’ve been to Utah twice.. If your an advanced Skiier hit Alta.. Best for skiiers.. no boards allowed.

Powder Mt. is fun, need 4×4 to get there. best kept secret. not very crowded. great powder, excellent steep and deep.

I went for 5 days and went to 5 resorts. I stayed in down town salt lake and every resort was about an hour away. I got tix at a local ski shop for a fraction of the cost at the resort.

    Park city is great too.

How good are you? do you like the deep powder? its not like groomed trails. Alta is by far the best, if your good. Long lines, 2nd would be Powder MT. similar, but less lines.

Snowbasin is very nice. the Olympics were there several years ago so the base and lodge area are very nice. Lifts are newer, runs are nice.

Well, I live in Salt Lake and have a season pass at Alta. Far and away, that is your best ski experience. If you don’t mind snowboarders, then Snowbird has even more terrain. You can purchase a combined ticket, and ski them both. There are lift connections as well as a free shuttle service.

If you are in town for several days, I recommend skiing the following areas:

    Alta
    Snowbird
    Solitude

Those are your best ski experiences. The Park City side (Park City, Deer Valley, Canyons) are okay, but they cater to the rich, and do a lot more grooming and such. They still have good terrain, but much of it is tamed for the rich pansies.

I have also skied Powder. That place is decent. But a bit of a drive out of Salt Lake. If you have the time, definitely give it a whirl!

my cousin, aunt and uncle went to park city, and they said it was good, and my family might go this year. in salt lake city, theres also snowbird, which i went to. snowbird was a good resort, and i think the park city mt. resort is good

Ok, having skied in Utah for 16 years, I would say a 50% intermediate resort would be Brighton, or Solitude. Quality doesnt really show up at those resorts though. Park City you will over pay, and Powder Mtn. should get sued for false advertising. Snowbasin is alright, but overall I would recommend Alta. Best price, best snow, best everything except not the best snowboarders, cuz they cant go there…

I have been to both Solitude Mt. and both Park City. I would say that solutude is a bit more challenging than park city, but both are great resorts. Also if you are looking for any other places to go deer valley is also a great resort in that area, but i am not sure if they allow snowboarders. Good luck. Also if you know anything about skiing in west va i have a question up so if you know anything please message me. Thanks
