Decide what part of the industry you want to be in. Get an education about it and apply for a job. At your age you could probably land a job as a student teacher at some ski school. When you reach 16 you may find a paying job with a ski school and learn how to teach skiing and learn a lot more about the industry. I saw an poster about training for ski area management at the resort where I work. I think part of it was on line. I’ll reply with that information tomorrow night when I get a chance to read the poster again.

One of the best Schools for ski bis is Sierra Nevada College located in Incline Village Nv (lake Tahoe) they offer a program in ski Business. They train you in ever aspect of the bis. Check out their web sight SNC.edu From there the world is your oyster. Its a great school with close ties to many resorts.

There are a lot of ways to be involved in the ski business.

Consider spending some time working in a ski shop, whether as a salesperson or ski technician while you’re still in high school. That could provide you with some connections to ski equipment reps who are already in the business. Ask questions about the industry and the work they do every time you get a chance.

Join the ski school and/or ski patrol at the area where you do most of your skiing. The experience you get now could be put to good use when you are ready to go to college as you may be able to join a ski school or ski patrol at an area near the college you choose. Whether you eventually decide to stay in the ski business or choose to ski for the fun of it, keeping up as an instructor or ski patroller can provide you some nice opportunities to remain involved in the ski business.

As far as colleges, I had thought that Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI offered courses in ski area operations, but find that Colorado Mountain College is probably your best choice.

Go to a college within realitively easy driving distance of a aski area, so you can practice and probably even have a weekend job.
