So i want to work for a ski resort. I just recently moved to the area and signed am about to sign a lease, but I was wondering how easy it was to get a job working at something like keystone mountain? Also I’m curious as how they do their lodging? could I live at home for a week then live in keystone for a week while I worked? Also what kind of benefits does a ski resort have to offer?

I’m sure you could get a job. They hire employees easily at low pay. It’s the commissions that make you money (unless you have a specialized job – but most jobs there are minimum wage and bottom line – high school/college jobs, not careers.
They will not work with you or provide a place for you to stay to make the commute easier unless you are someone very big in the ski world (previous Olympian or somesuch).
Employees for ski resorts don’t really need much of a resume – being a good skier is enough. But there’s a lot of good skiers out there who live right near ski resorts. The benefits can be anywhere from McDonald’s level to good benefits with high commissions for private lessons. Usually, when starting out, you don’t get the private lessons or commissions – you have to build a base like any independent marketer.
Or you could get a desk / food job there. You’ve seen the employees – there’s the ones that sell cokes and the ones that fit boots. Crappy jobs all – McDonald’s again. Best bet is to give lessons to kids and work on the parents for private lessons for commission.
i agree with the above…most are college students workinf for a month during winter break or local ski bums–either way you dont get paid much, i dont think you could live in denver realistically on a ski resorts pay…how much do you think a chairlift operater really makes?? or the guy who serves you a burger at the lodge?? those are pretty much what ski resorts hire—the other higher level positions (management, instructors, groomers, etc) go to returning employess who have a history with the resorts
Okay, I live just down the road from Keystone…been here for about 25 years. Don´t do it. Keystone has the WORST reputation as an employer, and their housing has ALWAYS been a problem. If you want to come up here, you should check into Copper or Loveland…don´t know how Loveland is, but honestly, you don´t really think that people who work for the ski areas get paid so little? They are making over 10/hour, simply because that’s the minimum wage here. No high school kid, still wet behind the ears will take a job at Wendy’s for less than $11! College grads, (granted, people without a lot of experience) are making a hell of a lot more, here, than they are in Denver, and Real Estate here (Rents, included) are about twice what most Denverites pay. A small condo will set you back a quarter of a million, a house…half. You will easily find living situations for about half that in Denver (not counting the really ritzy neighborhoods…compare apples to apples, kay? So, if you are willing to brave the drive, which without traffic would be, as you say, about an hour and a half, but on Friday nights, Saturday mornings, and Sunday nights, can run about 3 – 4 hours, go for the drive…oh, yeah, and you have to buy gas, at around $3.50. And then there’s wear and tear on the car.
Here’s what you could do. Take a small “mother-in-law” apartment in someone else’s house, and stay there while you’re working, or take a small place that you can share with a bunch of guys to sleep only…and split the rent.
I know someone who’s in a lock-off studio…honest, it’s like a shoebox! and he’s paying $650/month!
usually you can get discounts but i don’t think you’ll get free lodging but you can ski free or cheap and you should live somewhat in the mountains so you can get there for sure but i am not sure about the lodging but i HIGHLY doubt its free
