(you make a "V" with the skis and you break...) The answer is yes, if are can stand on the skis and do this the proper way you are able to go on an easy run with low speed. OR 90 minute group lesson. If the lessons are 55 minutes, in a large group, you may get enough out of it to go enjoy the bunny slope. If you are young, athletic, have good balance, etc, you will likely be a quick learner. Your mum is probably right...2 full hours of beginner lessons will probably bore you. And they wouldn't offer it if it wasn't allowed. Where I ski instructed before, the lessons were as follows:

60 minute private lesson.

OR

90 minute group lesson.

If the lessons are 55 minutes, in a large group, you may get enough out of it to go enjoy the bunny slope. If you are young, athletic, have good balance, etc, you will likely be a quick learner.

You can ski after a 55 minute lesson. I (among others) could teach you, But, you will be a much better skier with a 2 hour lesson and you will enjoy the rest of the day more.
