Chris asked:
I am going skiing for the first time at the end of this month. I am planning on buying The North Face Freedom insulated ski pants. When I buy jeans I wear a 30 inseam, which still runs a little long. The ski pants I am getting are small and I can either get a 29 inch or 31 inch inseam. Which ones should I get? The 31s which are longer than my normal pants or the 29s which should fit perfect?

I would go for the 31′s. Once you have ski boots on you will want your pant leg to extend nearly to the bottom of the boot.
At the bottom of the ski pant is a snow skirt that fits over the top of the boots to stop snow getting into your boots, and turning a great day cold, wet and miserable! If you get the pants that are a bit too short (compared to normal) when you bend your legs, i.e. sit down, fall down, or even ski normally, the bottom of the trouser leg will ride up slightly. Enough bends, and there will be a gap between boot top and trouser bottom. If they are slightly “too long”, you won’t have this problem, no-one will notice, and you will have dry feet all day. The 2 inches extra length will make all the difference!!
