What are really good techniques for ski racing?

ski
Gbmw asked:

I really love to ski, and I’ve always been very fast, but I’d like to have all the knowledge about racing in this sport. I am trying out for my school’s ski team, and I’d love to make it. Thanks!

    1. Keep hands out in front of you
    2. Keep you shins to the front of the boot but don’t hunch over
    3. Keep a wide stance (but don’t plow)

Being fast in a straight line is not the same as being fast on a race course. The best advice is to start fast, make smooth turns and stand up. You can not win if you do not finish. Take lessons and listen to your coach. If they tell you something that you do not understand, ask and ask again. The only stupid question is the one you do not ask. It takes time to learn to do anything, use the time to learn how to do it properly. Have fun.

Race needs to ski fast, but not only. It needs also physical and mental preparation, you’ll have to train yourself every weeks (days?), with a coach or something. That’s difficult to give you advices, they should be different if you practice “geant”, or “super-G”, or “special”…
But if you really get competition, I wish you a lot of pleasure, it’s so amazing…
