Jesse asked:
Its my first year snowboarding and my only fear are the ski lifts. Are they very high up or no? Are they made safe so I have bars to hold on and so theirs a bar in front of my so im in tight? Also how many people a year fall off ski lifts? Is it a rare problem or do people fall off a lot
?

the have restraining bars that you can raise or lower and there is a place to put your board on. i havent seen any one fall off but the jumped off the chair lift to soon.
you can also ask them to slow it down. after a couple of times you will get use to it
Ski lifts are generally very safe. People rarely fall from them unless they are just being stupid and horsing around. Most have a safety bar that you can put down shortly after getting onto the lift so that you are not likely to fall out. Don’t worry about the lifts they are safe or hundreds of thousands of people wouldn’t be willing to keep getting on them.
the only time i have fallen is when i was like 4 and when i was getting on the lift i wasn’t tall enough so i didn’t get on all the way. i didn’t get hurt. but i wouldn’t worry about it
I read an actual statistic on this a couple years back, and can’t remember the numbers.. I do remeber it was very very veryy rare something in the 1:millions for falling off and getting injured (not dying). Especially if their are restraining bars, there is almost no chance unless your goofing around, or hve no idea what you are doing. Make sure the first few times up your with someone who can guide you through it (someone trained would be best, such as an instructor). Once you get the hang of it, it’ll be no big deal.
you probably have a better chance of getting struck my lightning. lifts are way safer than u may think. there are trained people who operate the tops and bottoms of the lifts. height, speed and safety features all depend on what kind of lift u ride and where u r riding. falling off a ski lift is not a common problem. honestly, its more dangerous to go down the mountain than ride up it. riding a ski lift is totally worth the fun of snowboarding down the mountain. just hop on, enjoy the view, have fun, conquer the fear and try not to worry about it.
