That being said there are lots of other great options depending on whether you're a family, a beginner an expert etc. I'm actually more partial to Kirkwood which is outside of the Tahoe Basin and staying at their lodge is great. Accommodations depend on whether you want a hotel or a lodge or to rent a cabin. There are some great cabins for rent right by most ski slopes which eliminates the travel problem. Try a variety or ask a local once you get up there what they recommend. Most people around Tahoe are extremely helpful. Oh and on the north shore, there are some nice places in Truckee.
