What size and what type of ski should I buy?

I’ve just recently taken up skiing, and starting to enjoy it…Im 5 foot 8 weigh around 140. When i rented skis the first time, they gave me a 130. Could someone tell me what a good beginner ski is that isnt for little kids.

    170s are a good beginner ski
    easy to control 210s are very very fast and harder than hell to control

    What, 170s are way too long. Try somewhere in the length of about 157-165s
    Brands and Models to look at
    Rossignol PMC 200 series :

    K2 Apache
    K2 Escapes (if you can find em)
    Atomic Nomads are a great intermediate ski (might be a bit to over your head, but its a great working ski)
    Elan Mag Fires are also a great ski (more advanced aggressive ski. Beware, these wanna go, their not take it slow and stead skis)

    I hope this helps. The K2s and the Rossignol are your best bet as far as a beginner/intermediate level ski that will give you the softness you want and the aggression you yet cannot give (the ski will make up for the lack of technique that you dont have)

    Of course the 130s were to small. 150s to 170s are the best ski sizes for you. I am 5 foot 8 and have 156s and they are perfect. The type of ski depends on the difficulty of runs you are going to ski. For a beginner any all mountain ski is alright but obviously you wouldn’t want to be set up with race skis, twin tips, or big fat powder skis because it is harder to learn to ski on those. All mountain K2s, Rossignol, Volkl, and any other major brands of skis are good.
