The usually “try” for Thanksgiving weekend. I know it is dependent on weather, but they try to have it by the first big holiday with the blowers. Even if they can only open a run or two. On average, Hickory is about 15 degrees warmer than Beech mtn and Banner Elk at any given time.
It depends entirely on the weather. Doesn’t look good so far, but hey, it’s only October. Think about Vermont as a backup.
They need to wait until the weather is cold enough to manufacture the snow. Not sure about Banner Elk & Boone, but less than an hour away in the Hickory area it has still been unseasonably warm.
Check their websites .. they should be able to tell you potential opening dates.
